Clinical and Experimental Medicine

The Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine opened on 1st November 2014 with university lecturers from various scientific disciplines to develop a common didactic objective including clinical and translational research. The range of specialists covers Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Respiratory Disease, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Gastroenterology, Cardiovascular Disease, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Child Neuropsychiatry, Medical Oncology, Clinical Pathology, Haematology, Information Technology, Rheumatology, Dietetic Science and the History of Medicine. The research in these departments makes use of interdisciplinary dialogue which is indispensable for obtaining the best scientific results as demonstrated by their collaborative publications. The number of international collaborations active in the Department is also highlighted by the number of foreign co-authors in our publications.

The Department is also home to intense undergraduate and post-graduate courses, with numerous Medical Specialisation Schools (Clinical Allergology and Immunology, Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases, Gastroenterology, Respiratory Diseases, Infectious Diseases, Sports Medicine, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Paediatric Neuropsychiatry, Medical Oncology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Rheumatology),an International PhD course in Translational biomedicine and Master's Courses in Clinical Ecography, Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry and Forensic Psychology and Psycho-geriatrics. In these fields the multidisciplinary approach produces significant results as testified by the quality of seminars, conferences and scientific refresher courses organised by our lecturers and attended by our PhD researchers, in-house bursary researchers and undergraduates.

Furthermore, the Department provides clinical assistance and continuous training through ECM courses open to the whole region
