Philosophy
Course Overview
The BA in Philosophy fosters the knowledge of philosophical thought, both past and present, in parallel with a wide coverage of diverse aspects of contemporary philosophical debate in the ethical, political, aesthetic, theoretical and epistemological fields. In addition, it includes the teaching of psychological, sociological, pedagogical and linguistic disciplines, with a view to transforming basic knowledge into skills which can be utilised in a variety of workplace contexts (communication, human resources).
Erasmus stays are encouraged. The course makes it also possible to acquire fundamental notions of computing and English language.
Furthermore, the course allows students to acquire the necessary CFUs to take part in the competitions for the teaching of philosophy in schools.
In the interest of deepening and complementing curricular lessons, the course comprises various laboratory activities. Among these is the “Laboratory of Ethics and Philosophical Information” (L.E.I.F.), which gives students the possibility of making up curricular gaps, of acquiring CFUs through special activities (seminars, conferences, film forums), of publishing reviews in “Quaderni Leif” and, lastly, of acquiring computing skills through bibliographical searching and cataloguing.
