Pedagogical Sciences and Educational Planning
Course Overview
The master degree objective is the acquisition of advanced operative knowledge and competency for professionals specialized in pedagogical sciences and educational planning.
Educational Goals
The degree course has two principal curricula:
- Specific knowledge and competency in pedagogical disciplines, studies of deviance, history of educational institutions, experimental educational methodologies and techniques and planning for organizationally- based vocational, educational and teaching. To this end, the acquired abilities in these sectors will be integrated to better respond to specific curricular goals aimed at preparing teachers involved in vocational and didactic disciplines, including expertise in philosophy, sociology, psychology, historical and geographical processes.
- Specific knowledge and competency according to methodological perspectives and aims of environmental education, the ethics of responsibility, sociological research for educational planning, aimed at the environmental and territorial education.
The degree candidate will be required to correctly interpret and analyze educative and formative, individual and group needs, with the goal of achieving competency in planning, counseling, and action-research in both formative and educative contexts. The candidate must be able to promote, organize, coordinate and evaluate rehabilitative, formative, and educational services addressed to environmental, living and working contexts.
Competency will also be required to correctly plan educational trends in problematic situations (social hardship and exclusion, criminality, deviance, disability, cultural mediation, rehabilitation, senior citizens) and in social-cultural promotion, volunteering, public and private counseling services, welfare assistance, and residential rehabilitative facilities or structures; professional formation and lifelong learning in public and private institutions.
Job Opportunities
The degree holder will be able to find employment opportunities in scholastic institutions, townships (social services, Public Administration, services for free time, sport, cultural institutions), health institutes (prevention and rehabilitation services), University, Justice Department services, public and private companies, corporations, social-private and cooperative companies, either as employee or free-lance through such activities as education, formation, re-education, recreation, cultural and/or involving playful events, either as expert or specialist in planning, evaluation, organization, coordination of activities in formation, education, socialization in which is required a specific preparation in pedagogy and formation.
The graduates, besides this, can foresee employment in schools after completing the habilitative process for teaching, and passing the relative exams required by law.
