Clinical Psychology of Addictive Behaviors

The Clinical Psychology of Addictive Behaviors is a two-months training program housed between the Department of Educational Science, Section of Psychology at University of Catania and Center of Excellence for the acceleration of Harm Reduction (COEHAR) and its associated hospitals and clinics centers.

The program will focus on the clinical psychological care for persons with unhealthy substance use and other addictive disorders including behavioral addictions.

Students will be trained to be clinical psychologists expert in addiction treatment programs and academic research programs with specific addiction expertise.

This specialty includes psychological assessment, rehabilitation, harm reduction, abstinence-based treatment, individual and group therapies, treatment of withdrawal-related symptoms, acute intervention, cyber-health psychology, health empowerment, motivational interviewing and other long-term integrated clinical psychological therapies designed to reduce likelihood of relapse
